Ben Roethlisberger leads Steelers to extra time win over Ravens, playoff kick expectations still alive

Steelers superstar T.J. Watt tightened Michael Strahan's season record of 22 1/2 bags at the end of the second quarter

Leaning against the white wall in the away team's media room after beating the Baltimore Ravens in extra time 16-13, Pittsburgh Steelers full-back Ben Roethlisberger had a message for the NFL.

“Give him half a sack,” said Roethlisberger as he changed the guard outside T.J. Watt on the podium. "Begin the petition."

Just hours earlier, Watt had tied Michael Strahan's record of one-time NFL firings with 23 seconds remaining in the first half. Watt almost has at least one more, which will give him the only record.

"I don't know if any of this has ever happened to me," Watt said of the record-breaking. "It wasn't just myself. There were so many other people involved, great players, coaches, plans and a lot of unselfish guys in the dressing room that allowed me to do plays. Because So that record isn't just mine."

With the win, the Steelers' playoff hopes remain. If Sunday night's game between the Chargers and Raiders doesn't end in a draw, the Steelers will win a playoff spot for the second year in a row.

Steelers superstar T.J. Watt hit Michael Strahan's season record of 22 1/2 by the end of the second quarter - his bag helped the Ravens kick in a goal just before half-time.

TITANS CLINCH NUMBER. 1 VARIETY IN AFC PLAY WITH TEXANS WINNING

Going into the game, the Steelers had a small chance to make it to the knockout stages. Pittsburgh needs to win and let Indianapolis lose to Jacksonville to have any chance of extending Roethlisberger's career with a post-season appearance.

Roethlisberger's only touchdown pass of the game came in at 2:54 when he connected with the Chase Claypool wide receiver to give the Steelers a 13-10 lead. Ravens goalkeeper Justin Tucker ended the game with a goal 46 yards from the pitch.

In extra time, Roethlisberger completed a 10-yard pass through the center to extend Ray-Ray McCloud in 4th and 8th from Baltimore 41 to score the winning goal of the game.

The Ravens have been knocked out of the playoffs with a defeat, the Steelers will await the outcome between the Chargers and Raiders on Sunday Night Football.
